iOS 16 Beta With 5G Support for Jio, Airtel in India Rolls Out to iPhone Users

Apple has officially rolled out the iOS 16 beta update in India, unlocking 5G connectivity on supported iPhone models. With this release, iPhone users can now experience ultra-high-speed internet in regions where telecom operators such as Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi) have activated 5G networks.

This pre-release software update allows users to test and experience Apple’s 5G performance in India before its full public rollout. According to sources, the stable version is expected to reach all users once Apple completes network validation and performance testing with local service providers.

Supported iPhone Models for 5G

The update enables 5G on the following iPhone models:

  • iPhone 14 series

  • iPhone 13 series

  • iPhone 12 series

  • iPhone SE (3rd Generation, 2022 model)

Only these devices will be able to experience 5G speeds under the Apple Beta Software Program once users install the iOS 16 beta.

Jio 5G Access and the Welcome Offer

Jio users with supported iPhone models located in cities where JioTrue5G has been launched are eligible for the Jio Welcome Offer.

The offer includes:

  • Unlimited 5G data at speeds up to 1 Gbps

  • No additional cost to users

  • Availability for all postpaid customers

  • Prepaid users must have an active ₹239 or higher plan

This initiative by Jio ensures that iPhone users can fully explore 5G capabilities without worrying about data limits or extra charges.

Airtel 5G Launch for iPhone Users

Unlike Jio, Airtel has not introduced a dedicated 5G offer. However, Airtel subscribers in cities where 5G has been rolled out can still access Airtel 5G services as part of their existing mobile plans. Once users update their iPhones to the iOS 16 beta version, they can instantly connect to available 5G networks in supported regions.

Apple’s Statement on the 5G Rollout

In an earlier statement, Apple mentioned:

“We are working closely with carrier partners in India to ensure iPhone users enjoy the best 5G experience possible. 5G support will be rolled out through a software update once network validation and quality testing are complete.”

The company confirmed that 5G support for all users will be widely available through a stable software update in December.

Providing Feedback to Apple

The iOS 16 beta includes a Feedback Assistant app, available directly on the iPhone’s home screen. Users can report issues, share performance feedback, and help Apple refine the final version of the 5G-enabled iOS release.

Why This Update Matters

This marks a significant milestone for India’s 5G adoption. With Apple, Jio, and Airtel aligning to deliver seamless connectivity, millions of iPhone users can now experience next-generation mobile internet speeds. The iOS 16 beta not only accelerates 5G deployment testing but also emphasizes Apple’s growing focus on improving network optimization and user experience in the Indian market.
